Methionine - an essential amino acid containing sulphur, methionine is a useful source of biologically available sulphur, an important element in hoof horn. Methionine can be used by the body to form other non-essential amino acids found in hoof horn.

Zinc and copper - these minerals are components of keratinised tissues such as skin and hoof horn. Chelated zinc and copper are included due to their high bioavailability. A complex of the mineral with amino acids ensures they are absorbed and utilised more efficiently. It is important to supplement both of these when extra methionine is fed, as it can reduce the uptake of these minerals.

Calcium - important of the integrity of every cell, this mineral is involved in the bonding between keratin cells in hoof horn.

Biotin - this is a B-complex vitamin which has been shown to produce clinical improvements in hoof horn growth rate and structure. However, when supplemented alone, results are unpredictable.
